SAND
My 'sand' collection consists of handcrafted flat plates made from a special stoneware that incorporates firesand (chamotte) into its body. This chamotte creates a sandy texture and results in unique patterns on the surface of each handmade plate. Each ceramic piece has an unrepeatable texture, telling its own story and revealing particular worlds beneath the glazes.
The upper part of the plate is glazed, while the edges and bottom retain the natural clay surface, providing a visual and tactile effect reminiscent of sand. The plates are flat with smooth elevations on the edges, serving both as functional food serving dishes and as exquisite decorative pieces for interior spaces.
Flat plates
To craft the bases for my handmade plates, I employ various colors of stoneware, each offering its own delightful surprises when fired with glazes. I mix and overlay different glazes to create unique patterns and special details on the surface. Some designs are inspired by things I've seen, while the meaning behind others may become clear only later in the creative process.
The bottom part of the handmade ceramic plates in the 'sand' collection retains the natural texture of the clay, providing a tactile and visual connection to the raw material.
In creating the 'sand' plates, I use different colors of clay (black, white, sepia, red) to reflect the various types of sand found in nature.
Universes
Each plate features endless, unique details that are not replicated in any other piece, capturing distinct worlds within the glaze. Even when I use the same combination of materials, the result is a completely new and surprising composition, infused with life, its own secrets, and unexpected creations.

Interactive art object
I consider each plate as an abstract painting on ceramic, which you can complement with your own elements – whether it's food, light, or other items – to completely alter the composition.
All the plates of mye 'sand' collection are handcrafted by me in my ceramic studio in Malaga and fired by 1250ºC.
The plates of the same size may slightly vary in diameter, form, and thickness due to their handmade nature.
I continually create new pieces, each one unique. You can check out the ceramic plates currently available in my handmade ceramic store.
