POLAR NIGHT
The 'polar night' collection captures the mystique and beauty of the Arctic landscape. Crafted from black stoneware, each cup reflects the profound contrasts found in nature. The unglazed, raw bottom exterior suggests the deep, rich darkness of the polar night. In contrast, the cups are glazed on the inside and along the outer edges, where different colors represent the ethereal beauty of the polar lights. The interplay between the unglazed surface and the vibrant, glossy rim mirrors the captivating dance of light against the night sky.
Cups
For the black ceramics collection 'polar night' I’ve created cups in three sizes (ca. 95ml, 190ml & 270ml) with various color combinations. The exterior of each cup retains the original color and raw texture of the clay body (night), while the upper exterior and interior are glazed in different colors (polar lights).
Due to the unique nature of black stoneware, the intensity of the colors can vary with each firing, making every cup distinct. The colors of the edges create a wide range of shades that seamlessly transition from one to another, much like the real polar lights. While I give each color combination a name, it’s more symbolic than precise – after all, the beauty of the lights lies in their ever-changing, indefinable nature.

Sets
You can choose your own color combination for your set of handmade ceramics. Given the inherent surprises with the colors and textures by this design, I recommend checking the photos of the available cups in my shop to see the current selections. Here, I’m showcasing some samples of the 'Polar Night' black ceramic sets.
Each cup is wheel-thrown and handcrafted in my workshop in Malaga. For this collection, I use fine black stoneware, fired at 1250ºC.
