Handmade ceramic collection 'Levante'

Levante cups

My other favorite project that is currently undergoing a transformation: the Levante Cups. This collection takes inspiration from the exceptionally beautiful Levante wind, which is prominent in Spain and especially in Tarifa. The wind holds a unique allure, with the remarkable feature of flying sand. Levante, at times, reaches velocities of up to 100 km/h and provides an unforgettable experience for those present in that moment.

Levante in Tarifa is a part of my life; I wonder at this natural phenomenon. Once, I decided to capture it in ceramic. I projected Levante into ceramic objects in three chromatic phases: Levante Sol – the sundown while the sand is flying; Levante Pino – the reverse part of the beach with lagoons and Mediterranean pines; and Levante Playa – the main stage for this spectacle. And I fully enjoyed doing it until I decided to shift away from the lower temperature materials that I had been using for the Levante cups. Now my challenge is to incorporate these images into high-temperature materials, and I'm fully immersed in this process at the moment. While I'll conclude my story once it's finished, I currently want to cherish the initial manifestation of these cups in my memories.
